Share this post:

The IDSA Foundation embarked on an innovative partnership with the Alzheimer’s Germ Quest, Inc. (AGQ) to provide two $50,000 research grants. We are thrilled to announce the two awardees after receiving thought-provoking applications from several ID specialists. Both will conduct projects to discover the possible linkage between infectious diseases and Alzheimer’s disease. This research has the potential to save lives and develop preventive care methods for the millions affected by Alzheimer’s disease around the world.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disorder with no cure or treatment that will greatly impact the development of the disease. More than 3 million people in the U.S. and nearly 50 million worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s.

Specific links causing Alzheimer’s disease have remained elusive. The IDSA Foundation and Alzheimer’s Germ Quest, Inc. are hopeful for the results of Dr. Bentley and Dr. Aiello’s ground-breaking research. The impacts of their research have the potentially to change lives around the world.
