The IDSA Foundation has named Stephen E. Peeler, CFRE, as its executive director. The IDSA Foundation is the charitable arm of The Infectious Diseases Society of America, an 11,000-member society representing ID practitioners throughout the world. Peeler will join the foundation in September.
The IDSA Foundation is the nation’s leading charitable organization committed to reducing the burdens of infectious diseases. Founded in 2001, the foundation’s priorities are to build the future workforce of infectious disease clinicians and expand research support for early career physicians.
Since its inception, the IDSA Foundation has raised over $10 million resulting in:
- 700+ scholarships to early career ID clinicians
- $850,000+ in targeted ID research support
- 500+ grants to medical students and residents to grow the field of ID
Peeler has over 20 years of experience working with non-profits and in the field of development, most recently as vice president of membership and development at the National Club Association and managing director of the NCA Foundation. In this position, Peeler led membership, meetings, marketing, fundraising, sponsorships and partnerships. Prior to the NCA, Peeler was the vice president of development at ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership and the ASAE Foundation where he led all fundraising and development programs, campaigns and special events, expanded donor and volunteer relations, and managed recognition programs.
