AMR Education Grants for IDSA Core Antimicrobial Stewardship Curriculum

The IDSA Foundation is excited to present a new opportunity for medical students, residents and Fellows who identify as African American, Asian American, Native American, Caribbean American, Hispanic or Latinx to receive AMR Education Grants that will allow access to the “self- study” IDSA Core Antimicrobial Stewardship Curriculum. This activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Thermo Fisher Scientific. The grant is presented on a first come, first serve basis for 100 qualified applicants and will open applications on October 28th. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the full curriculum.

Grantees will have two years to complete the foundational course work, which will cover modeling antimicrobial stewardship (AS) best practices in the inpatient and outpatient setting, structuring conversations to influence prescribing patterns of other providers, and ways to improve interprofessional collaborations while gathering leadership support necessary for success.

New updates to the Core AS curriculum include a “Bugs and Drugs” primer that describes key fundamental pharmacology and microbiology concepts necessary within antimicrobial stewardship, as well as the addition of content related to pandemic preparedness and what it means to be a steward during COVID-19.
