iDMentorship365 Program

Mentorship can be a critical segue into the field of infectious diseases, giving mentees important insights from experienced ID professionals and offering mentors the satisfaction of supporting a young professional following in their footsteps. Experienced mentors can guide and support the next generation of ID professionals, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to build a successful career in ID. Through the iDmentorship365 program, mentees will gain valuable insights and perspectives as well as receive feedback and advice that can help them grow and succeed in their careers. Overall, mentorship can ensure that we have a strong and capable workforce that is prepared to address important public health threats.

Mentee Benefits:

  • One-year membership in the Infectious Diseases Society of America
  • One-year subscription to The Journal of Infectious Diseases & the Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases
  • IDWeek registration + travel stipend for kick-off luncheon (required)
  • IDWeek Career Accelerator Package (headshot, resume/LinkedIn review)
  • ID calendar, curated content, discussion groups and webinars

This program fosters effective mentor/mentee interactions that incorporate three key elements: professional development, education and a vision for the mentee’s future career.

Thank you for your interest in the 2023 iDMentorship365 program. We received a significant number of applications from medical students and residents, and the application period has now ended.

Our team is reviewing applications and will contact participants the week of Sept. 4. Your dedication to advancing infectious diseases is truly appreciated. Stay tuned for future updates and opportunities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

for mentees

iDMentorship365 is a year-long mentorship program that will kick off at IDWeek. Mentees and mentors should be prepared to meet regularly for the rest of the year as part of the new iDMentorship365 program. Ideally, mentees should plan to communicate with their mentor and group at least twice before IDWeek.

It is a good idea to schedule the dates for the first few meetings via the mentorship portal known as Qooper. The Qooper app will allow you to set the meetings at your discretion using the meeting scheduler module.

We do our best to match mentees and mentors based on the information provided in their applications. Due to the limited number of mentors, we encourage matched mentees and mentors to remain paired. If you have a concern, please contact us at idmentorship365@idsafoundation.org

Both mentors and mentees will be required to attend the Mentorship Program Luncheon, which will take place during IDWeek. A happy hour will also take place during IDWeek. This is an optional event, but your attendance is strongly encouraged.

for mentors

iDMentorship365 mentors are valuable resources for emerging ID leaders. As a mentor, you are expected to share your knowledge and professional experiences with your mentees, try to answer questions they may have about the field and look for ways to offer personalized learning experiences.
